Kamlrok Disc HeatersGeneral Description These unique heaters are constructed or a rust-resisting iron sheath (750°F Max Temp.) with optional chrome steel sheaths (950° F. Max Temp.) available. They are precision pieces of equipment proven to be suitable for continuous duty applications. Heater reliability is assured by high quality nickel-chromium resistance wire, which is embedded in a special ceramic formula developed for long life with excellent heat conductivity. This refractory insulation is compressed and the cured in high temperature ovens to insure maximum quality. Typical ApplicationsThe primary application of ring & disc heaters is the heating of flat surfaces: tank bottoms, melting pots, hot plates, platens, dies, molds, coffee urns, vacuum pumps (diffusion pumps), incubators, vulcanizers, ovens and resistive load banks. InstallationRing & Disc heaters should be clamped firmly to the application surface. Small diameter disc heaters can be nested inside larger ring heaters to increase heating capacity. Center holes of all heaters accommodate positioning of the heater & facilitate mounting to threaded studs welded to the surface to be heated. Utility clamps are positioned over the heater and bolted down upon the threaded studs. The studs can also be through bolted vs. welded. Tighten clamps wrench tight and the back off 1/2 turn for expansion. Good contact is essential for top efficiencyWhen the application requires heating of a permanent, fixed surface, and any air gap between the heater and this surface will greatly reduce the heater efficiency, and will develop hot spots on the heater surface that are detrimental to its life & serviceability. Heaters should be clamped firmly to the heated surface so that they cannot readily "expand away" from this surface. TolerancesResistance wire is precision wound. O.D. Tolerance on all ring heaters is 1/16 inch under nominal size 1/64th. I.D. Tolerance on all ring heaters is 1.16 inch over nominal size + 1/64th. Thickness is 5/16th inch +/- 1/64th. TerminalsOn all ring heaters, they are located 5/8ths from the outside edge of the radius of the heater. Standard terminals are made of cold rolled steel and oxidized in a controlled atmosphere to keep them from rusting. Terminal thread size is 8-32. All ring heaters are dished 1/2 degree from the center to the outside edge. This makes good contact possible when heaters spring down tight on the surface to be heated. Dished Adapter WashersDished adapter washers are available for the 9/16 inch I.D. units ONLY. These washers are 304 Stainless Steel 25/1000 thick 13/16th O.D. with center hole to convert to a #10-32 screw mounting hole. OptionsAll sizes are available without center holes (Blank). No three heat under 3" O.D. 3 Heat rings (3 Terminals) which divide the total wattage into two equal circuits for a 3 heat switch (1/4, 1/2, or full power application). Dished heaters curved to fit convex surfaces, with the following radii: 3/16, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 7/8, 1 1/8, 1 1/2, and 2. Over 250 volts available, 120 and 240 volt are standard. Nickel plated terminals are available. |

Starflex Band HeatersGeneral Description and Construction The Marathon Starflex band heater is an extruded aluminum segmented band employing rugged refractory insulated tubular heating elements. The low expansion clamping band provides snug barrel fit and and assures excellent heat transfer through the entire operating temperature range up to maximum heater temperatures of 600°F. This band heater enjoys wide acceptance because of extremely long and reliable life characteristics. Operators of plastic extruders and injection molders experience minimum down-time with the Starflex band. It is also one of the most efficient band heaters available. Some applications require both heating and cooling. With the advent of exothermic materials and heat generated by screw rotation, the proven Marathon Starflex band heater was adapted to provide both heating and cooling functions. Cooling tubes are placed in proximity to the heating elements to produce the Marathon Starflex Heat/Cool band. Due to its low mass, it can be cooled relatively quickly. Marathon also manufactures cool only bands in a configuration similar in a configuration similar to the Heat/Cool band. It should be noted copper cooling tubes may be used for operating temperatures up to 350°F but temperatures above 350°F require the use of our stainless steel cooling tubes. Installation of these bands is easily performed by opening the band, placing it around the cylinder and tightening a single screw. Large diameter bands are furnished with multiple clamping assemblies and multiple segments from grasping the surface. Cool or Heat/Cool BandsYou may use copper cooling tubes for operating temperatures up to 350°F. Stainless steel cooling tubes must be used for operating temperatures above 350°F. Please specify when ordering. |
